ESA prepares and supports gifted athletes with learning disability to participate in National, European and International competition and the Paralympics. Thousands more get the chance to try a sport for the very first time. The Association supports an extensive volunteer network, and with their experience, manages the national training squads in swimming, athletics and table tennis, as well as co-ordinating an extensive development programme, organises national events and entry to international competition. We need your help....   Since 2000, the organisation does not qualify for financial support from the government or Sport England and relies solely on the support of trusts and volunteer fundraising to deliver its activities. Funding is always a problem and severely limits the ability of the Association to develop new opportunities, foster talent, and give athletes the chance they deserve. The problem is compounded because all too often, those organisations receiving millions of pounds of lottery or exchequer funding, fail to provide any kind of activities or service for people with learning disability.
